Cape 2 Kruger and More

Oct 2014

Would you believe – I’ve lived in S.Africa all my life and never visited the Kruger National Park so when we were invited (or did we invite ourselves) by good friends John & Ruth to visit their ‘Bush House’ in Marloth Park, we jumped at the opportunity.

Marloth Park borders the southern boundry of KNP and is only a few kilometers from Crocodile Bridge gate which affords easy access for day trips into the Park.

The pictures and text below document our trip from Cape Town to Kruger and back as we explore new parts of this beautiful country.

First night in one of the Forever Resort chalets at Gariep dam. A beautiful view of the dam although a little exposed to a chilly breeze.

Disconnecting the tow rope – Tony ran out of fuel and had to be towed the last 100m to a petrol station outside Bloemfontein. I will no doubt receive some flak for publishing this pic.

Our second night on the road was spent at a Emanzini Country Resort in the small Free State town of Vrede.  Our bungalow was situated on the banks of the town reservoir and made a very pleasant setting for sundowners and a ‘braai’ later.

Our route the next day took us into Mpumalanga through Standerton and Ermelo. We turned off the tar just after the beautiful little town of Chrissiesmeer and took a forestry road through to Badplaas.
